My Trip To The BoomTribe Radio Show Last Week

Last week I finally got to be in the studio during the BoomTribe Radio show. The show features the Caribbean Top 10 countdown, which is a 1 hour segment and the other 2 hours feature a variety of music from around the region along with interviews of several entertainment personalities.
The main thing that stuck me was a festive vibe in the studio, lots of laughs one and off air with host Buddha Lizard and Ambidextrous Armadillo while BoomTribe DJs Hoodini, DirkMouse, Barking Spida and Smiling Cow kept the music or the” studio mood” bumping. It was an experience to be in the Mix 96 Studio, which is located in the middle of Sheration Centre Mall, Barbados. It was a little eerie sometimes being in the glass and people passing by looking at you like you are literally some show piece in a store show room window. I still ain’t get used to people passing by and looking into the window with a kind of blank stare like we were not human. As though we are just robots on display.

Special guests artiste were Mr DJ and Rubytech who released their new Crop Over 2008 trracks and kept their interviews, fun and exciting, lol like Rubytech freestyling until Armadillo had to ask that his mic be turned off. The every next line Rubytech was like ” He asked to turn my mic off, but i won’t stop… etc, etc. sending the studio into a frenzy! The atmosphere in the studio definately remained energetic over the duration of the show.
The Caribbean Top Ten kept its consistency with another week of quality charts. It was consistent with my daily clicking around the internet. It does reflect the Caribbean and not one particular island. My travels have proved that!
After the Caribbean Top Ten Countdown were the interviews with Sharon Carpenter and Fiona Bloom both from NY.
Sharon Carpenter is the news presenter with BET News. She also produces some documentary type shows along with her news pieces for BET USA and BET UK. Sharon talked about her 16 hour days trying to keep up to the task of producing this content for 2 networks. She did skillfully dodged question after question probing for more information. After all how do you interview an accomplished reporter????? She was quite a handful did make for a great interview. See much more about Sharon on Her myspace
Fiona Bloom is an well rounded publicist with her career starting out as a DJ. She expressed her passion for urban music which was really protrayed when she described some of her challenges being a “white chick” in a “black world”. She is an overcomer because as far as I can tell she is still white and has been able to acheive alot in the industry. For more on Fiona check out her website www.thebloomeffect.com. Fiona also mentioned she is willing to work with regional and Bajan artiste to assist them with their publicisty.

This week is the 100th Caribbean Top Ten Charts produced by BoomTribe. I would like to take this time to congratulate all the guys who worked hard to make it to this milestone. These charts bring us one step closer to a real Caribbean Music and Entertainment Industry. I will be making a special effort to be there to be a part of and celebrate this momentus occasion. Let me help write in the history books too. Corey Graham 2.0 ya know…. lol, Seriously though I talked to Altentertainment Inc/BoomTribe Director of Radio Services, Andrew Payne and he had this to say,
“We have been producing the charts for three years, however, we took a
break while transitioning from another radio station to Mix 96, the
home of the BoomTribe Radio Show, and the ‘BoomTribe Caribbean Top 10′
charts which will soon be syndicated in over 15 Islands across the
Caribbean. So stay tuned for more!!!”
I am expecting a good show and a great celebration tune into BoomTribe.com/radio between 6:00 pm EST and 9:00 pm EST to listen to the show!
